Fjällräven review| Travellers jas

Fjällräven is known for its iconic Känken backpacks and sustainable ‘outdoor gear’, i.e. clothing and bags made for the outdoors. And then I’m also talking about ‘outdoors at its widest’. This means that Fjallraven products ‘behave well’ in different (weather) conditions and climates. After all, just like people, countries are different from each other.Review Fjallraven jackets

Wearable in three seasons

The Fjallraven Travelers series is made for both warm climates and Dutch summers. This Swedish adventurer is perfect for the landscapes of Marsman and a ticket to the tropics… including a tropical shower. It is remarkable that the Fjällräven Travelers seems to adapt to the weather like a chameleon: in warm weather the jacket feels cool and in cool weather it feels warm. This makes this coat suitable for spring, autumn and summer. You can therefore easily travel through the Thai tropics or discover beautiful places in the Netherlands such as the Marker Wadden .Heathland walk

Quickly dries in wet weather. Granted, this traveler is not waterproof, but it is quick-drying. Because: made from MT Eco developed by Fjällräven: a combination of 75% recycled polyamide and organic cotton. The fabric is therefore breathable, feels soft, falls smoothly and does not wrinkle easily. Unfortunately, the Travelers MT product family is not vegan, but it is very sustainable.

Classic and contemporary

This is not a slick travel companion, but stands out because of its sophisticated look. The Travelers series is both classic and contemporary. Does this sound like a paradox? With its slightly tailored fit and sober color, the jacket looks classic. Nice detail: the waist can be adjusted at the back with press studs.
But the modern fabric, subtle details and smart finds make the jacket completely contemporary. Schrander is the handy (slit) security pocket on the inside for bank cards and passports. As a traveler, I often make a mistake, or spend an hour looking for my passport just before check-in.

City trip and walking holiday

What’s in a name? The Fjällräven Traveler series has been developed for holidaymakers, travelers and lovers of city and walking trips. Nicely multifunctional and practical. Unlike my face, this jacket looks like it should be worn after a long journey. Tired of taking a beating, or too heavy to lug around? Well, no… this lightweight fits always and everywhere and is easy to pack into any bag. Moreover, stains are easy to remove.

Precisely because of its wearing comfort, this little item proves to be the ideal companion for outdoor adventures, city trips, holidays or long-distance travel. No holiday plans? Fjällräven Travelers MT is also an excellent all-round summer jacket for people staying at home. You don’t need large pans. A city walk or hike over the heath, for example, is adventurous enough.

Heathland walk?

Speaking of heather… From mid-August to early September, a blanket of heather turns many areas in the Netherlands purple. Often this phenomenon is short-lived, so you should enjoy it while you can. That’s why Juup and I took a walk on the Bussum heath, but this is of course possible in many more places in the Netherlands.

How about the Sprengerberg in Overijssel, or the Drunense dunes in Brabant? The best-known heathland areas are the Posbank in the Veluwe. But did you know that the Cape forests in Utrecht are also full of these little bloomers? I grew up in Bergen, so I walked a lot in the Schoorlse dunes.

In September you can enjoy the heathland here. In Drenthe: the Mantingerveld, Natuurmonumenten is busy restoring a large heathland to its former glory. But the Mookerheide in Limburg is also a wonderful place to walk. Heath routes can be found on the Natuurmonumenten site .

A lifetime of fun

You will of course enjoy quality clothing brands such as Fjällräven for a lifetime. Unfortunately this does not apply to me. One beautiful day, daughter Pip conscripted my ‘coat’. At twelve years old and a height of 159, the jacket is quite large, but according to Pip ‘it fits like a glove’. In her own words, ‘at this age she is ready for a different style’. Oh well, with a whole life ahead of us, this Traveler has eternity ahead 🙂

You’ll never see them again…Pip: ‘Look mom, I have plenty of colorful coats but this suits me better. The jacket is beautiful and fits very nicely. Ok, it’s a bit oversized, but that’s just the way it should be. By the way, I have to cycle a long way every day through rain and wind, then this Travel jacket with hood is very useful. What do you say… put on a rain suit? No, that’s really not cool. In addition, I don’t yet have a jacket that is suitable for everything.’ In short: it looks like this is going to be a case of ‘you’ll never see that again’.

Pip has already had quite a bit of fun with this Fjallraven this summer. A day in Amsterdam, or a weekend in Flevoland| 20 highlights . And this topper also appears to be a keeper on the boat. I think we should make it a duo jacket, or buy an extra model. This classic is available in three different colors, so who knows.

Design from Scandinavia

Fjallraven has been at the top of Scandinavian design for years. The brand comes from the Swedish town of Örnsjöldsvik. Where the mountains, forest and sea meet. Fjällräven is ‘into nature’. For that reason, this outdoor manufacturer makes bags , jackets and more with which you can enjoy nature. The focus is on graceful simplicity and practical applicability and that is reflected.
