Eten en overnachten in Antwerpen met kinderen

Weekend in Antwerp with kids?

Then of course you want to eat Burgundian food and spend the night in Antwerp with children. This is also great with children. You just have to know where to go.

Because kids and Michelin stars don’t always go together. The same story also applies to a ‘boutique hotel’ with a Swarovski collection in house. Anyway, you get the picture. In that case, it is good to know where the whole family is welcome to stay and dine!

Got a bit hungry? On to the Wasbar!

There are many dining options in Antwerp. We tested some with kids for lunch and dinner. And these are our recommendations. The Wasbar is a combination of an old school launderette and a bar. Drink an organic smoothie, with a tasty organic salad. Fill your drum and let the drum spin nicely in the meantime. That’s a good thing, because kids can be quite messy. We didn’t see anyone doing laundry, but it was fun anyway.

Vegetarian restaurant in Antwerp? Go Greenway!

The Groenplaats is lined with restaurants. We settle down at ‘Greenway’ in the evening. A vegetarian/vegan restaurant on the Groenplaats with delicious burgers.

You can sit on the terrace, nice and quiet, because vegetarian and vegan are apparently not that hip here yet. It is also cozy inside the colorful Greenway. There are no special children’s menus, but ask for a student menu: main course plus dessert for kids at a reasonable price.

Best fries in town?

Antwerp, kids and fries? That sounds like an inseparable trio. Fortunately, there is always a ‘frituur’ somewhere in Belgium. We try our luck at the ‘Frites Atelier’ of a Dutch chef: Sergio Herman. A luxurious snack bar with all kinds of fries sauce from truffle to Andalusia mayo. Pip: ‘You can choose your own sauce here, but the regular mayo is the tastiest.’ These fries from Chef Herman are reasonable at 5 Euro per portion. The ‘chiqueria’ is a stone’s throw from the Beo strip shop.

Best fries AntwerpChocolate by Pierre Marconi

Top your fries with really good chocolate (cake)? Then the oh-la-la tempting chocolatier Pierre Marcolini in Kelderstraat is just what you need. Pierre makes beautiful creations. And the good thing is: the cakes are not too sweet, but just right. It is not without reason that this chocolatier with Italian roots has been showered with awards. Tip: even more top chocolate? Grab your chance at the Chocolate Line on the Meir.

Best family hotel in Antwerp?

There is plenty of good, affordable accommodation to be found. The Lindner is located right next to Antwerp Central Station. By train you zoom right to the door of the hotel. There is also a huge parking garage under the station (18 Euro per day). The best part of all? Families are King! For example, spend the night in a studio.

Roof terrace Lindner

Do a dance in the room, run from bedroom to children’s room and sing your lungs out in the spacious bathroom. The breakfast is plentiful, but best of all is the view from the Sky Bar Antwerp. Small downer for kids: this hotel does not have a swimming pool. Pip: ‘We just filled the bath. And your private pool is ready.
